Buying guide

How to choose a nursery rocking chair

Start with the floor plan

Measure the spot before you fall for a fabric. Our nursery rockers run from 19.7 inches wide (The Posy) to 31.5 inches wide (The Carson). Depth matters even more, because a rocker moves backward and some chairs stretch out. The Posy reaches 52 inches deep with its footrest extended, The Snowberry 49.4 inches with the footrest out, and The Carson 63.8 inches fully reclined.

Leave room behind the chair so it never knocks the crib or the wall on the back swing. Our rocking chair size guide shows how to measure clearance step by step.

Features that help at 3 a.m.

Night feeds are long, so support counts more than looks. A high back lets you rest your head. The Clover stands 43.3 inches tall and comes with a lumbar pillow. The Lambkin has an adjustable headrest. Also check:

  • Footrest: built in on The Hazel, fold-out on The Snowberry, hidden on The Posy, included with The Frost.
  • Side pockets for a phone or burp cloths: The Lambkin, The Nestle and The Carson.
  • Seat height: 14.4 inches on The Fleece, 16.9 inches on The Hazel, 19.3 inches on The Carson. A higher seat is easier to get out of with a sleeping baby in your arms.

Fabrics in this collection

Teddy is the most common fabric here. It feels soft and warm, and you will find it on The Posy, The Snowberry, The Petal, The Cubby and The Nestle. The Hazel and The Wisp use corduroy velvet, The Clover uses flannel, and The Fleece is a boucle teddy.

Most of these chairs come in ivory, cream or white. If you worry about marks, look at grey on The Petal, The Nestle and The Wisp, taupe on The Hazel, or camel and forest green on The Cubby.

Which model fits your nursery

For a small room, The Petal measures 26.8 by 29.5 inches and is made for small spaces, with solid wood in its build. For the most support during feeds, choose The Clover or The Lambkin. If you want to lean back and turn toward the crib, The Carson swivels, rocks and reclines, holds up to 330 lb, and also sits in our recliner rockers. The Wisp, The Frost and The Cubby also appear in our reading rockers, so they can move to a reading corner later.
